Mexico: Tour offers look at life, art of Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo

Fans of Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo can immerse themselves in the artists’ lives on a eight-night excursion through Mexico City organized by Tia Stephanie Tours.
Travelers are scheduled to visit the National Palace to view Rivera’s mural series “The Epic of the Mexican People,” as well as the Coyoacán neighborhood and the Frida Kahlo Museum, her former home, and the Dolores Olmedo Museum, home to an important collection of Rivera and Kahlo pieces.
Other planned stops inlcude the Palace of Fine Arts and its murals by Rivera, José Clemente Orozco and David Alfaro Siqueiros, and the Anahuacalli Museum, designed by Rivera to house his collection of Mesoamerican art and antiques.
Other highlights include a gallery tour to check out Mexico City’s contemporary art scene as well as the Jumex Museum and the Luis Barragán House and Studio, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Dates: Aug. 8-16
Price: $2,685 per person, double occupancy. Includes accommodations, eight breakfasts, seven lunches and dinner at Dulce Patria, featuring some of the Rivera’s and Kahlo’s favorite dishes.
