Three seasons of hard work at USC paid off for Leonard Williams on Friday.
The former Trojans defensive lineman signed a contract with the New York Jets after his first rookie-camp practice with the team.
The deal is worth $18.6 million over four years and includes an $11.8-million signing bonus, ESPN’s Rich Cimini reported.
Williams was the team’s final draft pick to sign a contract.
“I wanted to keep thinking about my install and getting better on the field,” Williams told reporters Saturday.
The Jets selected Williams sixth overall in last week’s NFL draft.
The 6-foot-5, 302-pound Williams had 9-½ tackles for losses, including seven sacks, in his final season at USC.
