If you have any free time, don’t forget to show up to Thursday’s Mission League track and field finals at Occidental College.
The 100 meters final should go off around 4:15 p.m., and in less than 11 seconds, it will produce as much excitement as any 100 race in the state this season.
Back in 2013, every participant in the Mission League 100 final broke 11 seconds, and it could happen again if the expected participants make it through Monday’s prelims. Only eight qualify for the finals.
This season, T.J. Brock of Chaminade ran a wind-aided 10.20 at the Mt. SAC Relays. He’s the meet favorite.
But the competition will be stiff. There’s Dominic and Diab Davis of Alemany, Trevor Reid and CJ Sanders of Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, Rafael Ferguson and David Long of Loyola, Nick Agbede and Jordan Chin of Chaminade and Alex Barnum of Harvard-Westlake, all of whom have run faster than 11 seconds.
“The Mission League 100 final is going to be amazing,” said Harvard-Westlake’s head of athletics, Terry Barnum.
