VU’s Rojas shines

Vanguard University senior Jose Rojas was named Golden State Athletic Conference Player of the Week in baseball.

Rojas, a shortstop, hit a pair of game-winning two-run home runs to help the No. 18-ranked Lions win two of three games against Golden State Athletic Conference rival Menlo on Friday and Saturday.

Rojas was four for seven with four walks and was hit by a pitch in the series. He drove in four runs and scored three and had a .720 on-base average.

Vanguard entered a crucial GSAC series with No. 6-ranked Westmont that begins Wednesday with a 21-7-1 record, 11-4 in conference.
