GIRLS’ LACROSSE
Rose Bowl Jamboree
PASADENA — Newport Harbor High defeated Back Bay rival Corona del Mar, 7-5, Foothill, 8-5, and Trabuco Hills, 4-3, to open its season Saturday.
Junior midfielder Sierra Michaelsen had six goals and one assist on the day, while junior attack Amanda Alevsky had five goals and one assist.
Junior attack Taylor Cordeiro and senior midfielder Zoie Wolfe had three assists apiece.
Senior goalie Paige More had 27 saves in three games.
The Sailors (3-0) visit JSerra Tuesday at 4 p.m.
BOYS’ LACROSSE
Corona del Mar 8, El Toro 2
CORONA DEL MAR — Ryan Mix had three goals and fellow seniors Daniel Noto and Randal Nelson had two apiece for the host Sea Kings in the nonleague season opener Saturday.
Senior Hugh Russell had six saves for CdM, which received strong defensive play from J.D. Abbott, Donald Dalton and Sandon Griffin.

CORONA DEL MAR — Senior Beau Attyah hit his second home run in two days and Michael Borchard went two for three for the Sea Kings in the Newport Elks Tournament pool-play game Saturday at CdM High.
Parker Werline had two runs batted in for CdM (0-2), which received a strong performance from starting pitcher Michael Salam.
Salam gave up one earned run on five hits in four innings.
Pacifica is 1-1.
CdM, which allowed three unearned runs, plays host to Ocean View Tuesday at 3 p.m.
Segerstrom 5, Costa Mesa 3
SANTA ANA — The host Jaguars scored three in the fourth inning to overcome a 2-1 deficit in pool play of the Newport Elks Tournament Saturday.
Costa Mesa posted a 10-7 edge in hits, but committed three of the game’s five errors.
Junior P.J. Maloney was three for four with two runs for the Mustangs (1-1), for whom Andrew Fulkerson was two for four with a run batted in.
Segerstrom is 1-1.
Costa Mesa is home Monday against Tustin at 3 p.m.
BOYS’ TENNIS
Fresno Classic
FRESNO — Corona del Mar High finished fourth in the tournament’s top division Saturday.
The Sea Kings lost to eventual champion Saratoga, 6-1, in the semifinals. In the third-place match the Sea Kings lost to Santa Barbara, 4-3.
Shane Korber, CdM’s No. 1 singles player, won three out of four matches and the No. 2 doubles team of Carter Wheatley and Alex Murray also won three out of four matches.
The Sea Kings’ No. 2 team finished second in the tournament’s third division, losing to Valencia, 4-2, in the final.
Viewpoint 11, Sage Hill 7
NEWPORT BEACH — Two Lightning doubles teams won two matches each, but it wasn’t enough in the nonleague match Friday at the Tennis Club.
Sean Batten and Kevin Marshack, as well as David Fayngor and Orion Wise both put together two victories in doubles for Sage.
