Baseball: Eagle All-CIF

Corona del Mar High sophomore Billy Eagle is the lone area baseball

standout recognized by coaches as All-CIF Southern Section.

Eagle, a slick-fielding center fielder who hit .444 with one homer, 17

RBIs and 17 stolen bases for the Newport-Mesa District’s lone playoff

team, was a second-team selection in Division IV.

Eagle had 36 hits in 81 at-bats, scored 22 runs and went 5 for 8 in two

playoff games, before the Sea Kings’ season ended with a second-round

loss to Western.

He was a starter for most of the season as a freshman last spring, when

the Sea Kings won the CIF Division IV crown.
