LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Don’t you have any other Huntington Beach news to report other than your

persistent and unsubstantiated charges against Mayor Dave Garofalo? Week

after week, you appear to be on a Joe McCarthy witch hunt.

With regard to your tired accusations about a $2,995 ad in the visitors

guide, where is your evidence of any impropriety? Garofalo makes his

living in the publishing business, and so far you have not presented any

facts that would represent a conflict of interest.

Garofalo’s customer list is published in the visitors guide and in the

Local News. His dealings are open and available for all to see.

I wonder if Tom Harman would be willing to provide us with a list of his

clients, so that we might have an opportunity to examine his possible

conflicts. This is no more than he is asking Garofalo to provide. He

wants the mayor to give full disclosure. Is he willing to tell us whether

or not he voted on any issues that might affect contributors to his

Assembly campaign?

I have been in Huntington Beach for 14 years, and in that time I have

seen no other mayor do as much for the city as Garofalo has. He

spearheaded the campaign to partner up with Coke, worked hard to bring

the world’s largest retailer, Wal-Mart, to our city, led the effort to

build Duke’s, Chimayo’s and Ruby’s at our pier, and worked for more

charitable organizations than anyone else in the city.

This is a guy who cares about Huntington Beach, a guy who gets things

done, and a guy I’m proud to call our mayor. Get off his back and let him

go to work.
