Reds slugger Joey Votto spends $10.5 million on a Hermosa Beach house

Joey Votto is putting the biggest contract in Cincinnati Reds history to good use. The six-time All-Star has paid $10.5 million for a modern home in Hermosa Beach, public records show.

The newly built estate, which first listed last year for $13.2 million, sits feet from the sand. A three-story staircase and elevator navigate the floor plan.

Spanning 3,826 square feet, the interior holds a family room, a dining area, a sleek kitchen and an indoor-outdoor living room. Elsewhere are four fireplaces, four bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms.

Clerestories line one bedroom, and on the top level, the master suite opens to an ocean-facing balcony. A sun deck hangs off the second story as well.

On the ground floor, an oversized bar extends out to a patio lounge with a fireplace. Stone finishes touch up the exterior.

Dennis Moloney of Strand Hill Christies International Realty holds the listing. Kevin Pratt, also with Strand Hill, represented the buyer.

Votto, 35, inked a 12-year deal with the Reds worth $251.5 million in 2012. After being drafted by Cincinnati in 2007, he’s played with the team his entire career and won the NL MVP award in 2010.
