“Foreign Bodies”: A review of Cynthia Ozick’s novel “Foreign Bodies” in the Nov. 7 Arts & Books section cited a passage from the book and said it reflected the thoughts of the character Lili. The passage, “She recognized him as someone she had missed; misjudged; passed over. And she had inflicted on him a pitiless blight,” described the thoughts of the character Bea Nightingale about her nephew Julian.
Green tech: In an article in the Nov. 6 Business section about the results of state and national elections on the clean-tech sector, a company name was inadvertently changed during production. The article said Christophe Schilling was the chief executive of GenAmerica Inc. In fact, Schilling is the CEO of sustainable chemicals company Genomatica Inc. in San Diego.
State budget: In the Nov. 6 LATExtra section, an article about a state judge’s blocking of Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s plan to eliminate a $256-million child-care program included only the last name of the minority leader of the state Senate, who met with Gov.-elect Jerry Brown. The sentence should have read: “On Friday, Brown met with Senate minority leader Bob Dutton (R-Rancho Cucamonga) and Sen. Sam Blakeslee (R- San Luis Obispo) in San Francisco, offering assurances that he would not leave Republicans out of the process of solving the state’s fiscal problems.”
