Tom Snyder has chronic leukemia

Tom Snyder, the former TV newsman and talk show host, says he has been diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia. His doctors told him the disease is not fatal and that people can live with it for 30 years.
“Considering I will be 69 years old next month, I ain’t looking for 30 years, but 15 more would be nice!” Snyder writes on his website, www.colortini.com. Specifics of how the disease will be treated have not been decided yet, he says.
Snyder was a news anchor in New York and Los Angeles for many years, then hosted a variety of talk shows at NBC, on cable and, most recently, at CBS, where he left “The Late Late Show” in 1999.
