From Times Wire Reports
A militant Cuban exile who was jailed in Panama and then pardoned in connection with a plot to kill President Fidel Castro is in the U.S. and will apply for asylum, his lawyer said.
Cuba’s communist government views Luis Posada Carriles, 77, as a terrorist and has linked him to a series of attacks on the Caribbean nation. Some hard-line exiles in Florida consider him a hero.
Lawyer Eduardo Soto said Posada Carriles had entered illegally from Mexico and would not have to apply in person.
