Events in the news this week.

In sports: The UC Irvine men’s basketball team plays at Cal State Long Beach today and completes its regular season Saturday at Santa Barbara. The Cal State Fullerton men’s basketball team completes its regular season with home games against New Mexico State Thursday and Cal State Long Beach Saturday.

The Southern Section high school boys’ basketball semifinals will be held Tuesday and Wednesday at several sites in the Southland, and the finals will be held Saturday at the L.A. Sports Arena. The Southern Section high school girls’ basketball semifinals will be held Tuesday, and the finals will be held Saturday at various sites.
