The internationally known Wartburg College Choir of Waverly, Iowa, conducted by Paul Torkelson, will perform at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 150 N. Palm St., La Habra, on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
During the past 30 years, the Wartburg Choir has presented more than 1,000 concerts in 37 states, the District of Columbia, three Canadian provinces and 15 European countries. It was the first American choral group ever to win the International Trophy at the Cork International Folk Dance and Choral Festival in Ireland.
This year’s program will feature the premiere performance of “Cantate Domino” by Josef Swider, a contemporary Polish composer, a work not previously available for performance in the United States. Another highlight will be “The Requiem” by Herbert Howells, which was written in 1936, but not released until 1980.
Admission for the concert is $3 for adults and $1 for children ages 10 to 18. Children under 10 will be admitted free. For information, call (213) 691-0656.
