Coyote Shouldn’t Lead Fox’s Life
I read avidly “Fox Hunting. California Style” about riders “trying valiantly to manage the collective adrenalin rush that comes from galloping after a coyote.”
I read avidly not because one woman called it “suicide riding.” Or because of scarlet coats and gold tabs.
And not just to find out if the horses, dogs and people (notice which I mentioned last) escaped injury.
But to learn . . . YIPPEE . . . the coyote wasn’t caught.
The photo showed cuddly baby hounds. Baby coyotes are cuddly, too.
Riders were punished. At the end, a participant “lit up a cigar so huge it nearly obscured his face.”
