Hold on there a minute (“Soderstrom Offers Belated Premiere,” by Martin Bernheimer, Feb. 20).
If I’m not mistaken, Michael Sells, the USC Symphony and I did the local premiere of Benjamin Britten’s “Our Hunting Fathers” on Nov. 16, 1984, at Bovard Auditorium.
That was the second time I’d done it, the first (out of town) in Ojai, in June of 1981.
I’d also suggested doing it with one of my rare concerts with the Phil, but Ernest Fleischmann wouldn’t buy it.
