Taft High, the two-time defending City Section boys’ track champion, meets Poly in a nonleague dual meet at Poly as the high school track season opens today.
The Taft-Poly matchup highlights four dual meets involving Valley teams. The others are Sylmar at Birmingham, Grant at Van Nuys and Canoga Park at North Hollywood.
All of the meets begin with field events at 2 p.m. Running events start at 2:30.
Quincy Watts, the defending state champion in the 100 and 200 meters, will not run for Taft. Watts, who played guard for the Toreador basketball team, is expected to make his outdoor debut against San Fernando on March 11.
