Local News in Brief : Vote Drive Hits School

Secretary of State March Fong Eu and state Supt. of Public Instruction Bill Honig came to North Hollywood High School Thursday to launch a drive to register high school seniors who will be eligible to vote this year.
The two officials told students that four out of five 18- to 21-year-olds don’t vote, the lowest percentage of any age bracket.
Eu said there are 125,000 high school seniors in California who could be eligible to vote in the June primary.
Honig and Eu designated April 18 to 22 to be “You’ve Got the Power” week and donned T-shirts emblazoned with the slogan to promote the nonpartisan registration drive. Registration opportunities will be provided at every public high school in California during those five days.
