Local News in Brief : North County : Dannemeyer Challenged to Resign by Opponent

A Republican from Yorba Linda said Thursday that he will oppose five-term Rep. William E. Dannemeyer (R-Fullerton) in the GOP primary to represent the 39th Congressional District.
In making his announcement, John M. Gullixson, 39, suggested that members of the House of Representatives be elected to four-year terms rather than two-year terms and that they also be restricted to serving no more than three terms in office.
Gullixson invited Dannemeyer to retire “as a token gesture, acknowledging the correctness” of that proposal.
