THE PREPS : Boys’ Soccer Roundup : Mission Viejo Starts Quickly, Wins

Mission Viejo High School scored four goals in the first half and then held on to defeat Katella, 6-3, in a Southern Section 3-A second-round boys’ soccer match Wednesday at Mission Viejo.
Greg Morales and Joe Moore scored two goals each, including one each in the first half, to lead Mission Viejo (17-4-4).
The Diablos will play El Segundo in Friday’s quarterfinals.
Mission Viejo, which used an aggressive offensive attack in the first half, took a 1-0 lead with 17 minutes played when Jeff Jurgemeyer grounded a shot past Katella goalkeeper Scott Bogardus.
Three minutes later, Mission Viejo went ahead, 2-0, when Moore took a loose ball in the Katella penalty area and scored.
Morales gave Mission Viejo a 3-0 lead with 30 minutes played when he took a pass from Andy Wortrich and scored a close-in goal.
The Diablos scored their fourth goal of the half with seconds left on a header by Jeff Gagnon.
Javier Serrano gave Katella (13-3-7) its first goal with five minutes played in the second half, but seven minutes later, Moore made it 5-1 on a penalty kick.
In 1-A:
Western Christian 3, Orange Lutheran 2--Orange Lutheran, trailing, 3-0, scored twice in the second half but came up short. Matt Morris and Mike Fleischli scored for Orange Lutheran (11-6-3).
