Two part-time soldiers of the Ulster Defense Regiment were killed and three other people were wounded when a bomb exploded in central Belfast, capital of Northern Ireland, police said. The Irish Republican Army claimed responsibility for the blast that shattered shop and office windows hundreds of yards away. Earlier, an 18-year-old British soldier was charged in the shooting death of an unarmed Roman Catholic man. Pvt. David J. Holden was charged with the “unlawful killing” of Aidan McAnespie, 23, who was shot when he passed an army post near the Irish Republic border.
