Local News in Brief : Westminster : Edwards Street Closed Today and Tomorrow

Edwards Street at the San Diego Freeway overpass will be closed from 10 p.m. today to 6 a.m. Friday, to allow for the pouring of tar on the bridge deck of the freeway, state transportation officials said.
During those hours, traffic will be rerouted onto Maple Avenue, south of the freeway, and Homer Street, north of the freeway, a Caltrans spokesman said.
The construction is part of the expansion plan for the San Diego Freeway, which involves adding a median lane in each direction between the San Gabriel River Freeway and the Corona del Mar Freeway.
