Judge Dashes Parts of Santa Claus Suit

Parts of a $1.5-million lawsuit filed in September by Glendale’s self-styled Santa Claus, Robert George, were dismissed by a judge last week on the grounds that three of its four claims were ambiguous.
Burbank Superior Court Judge Thomas Murphy dismissed claims of emotional distress, discriminatory practices and negligence.
A complaint for trespassing remained intact.
That claim alleges that city personnel removed a padlock on the outer fence at George’s home and unlawfully entered his property.
George’s attorney, L. Edmund Kellogg, said he will clarify and resubmit the lawsuit within 30 days allowed by the court.
“We’ll be clearing up some ambiguities the court didn’t like,” Kellogg said.
Friday’s action is the most recent in a highly publicized legal battle between George and the City of Glendale that has curtailed George’s year-round Christmas celebration at his rented Alameda Street home.
