Original New York Seltzer of Canada Ltd., based in Vancouver, has run into debt problems and is negotiating with John Labatt Ltd. with the aim of having the brewer take over its operations. Original, which said its problems resulted from a strike at its Ontario bottling plant last summer, owes the National Bank of Canada $1.5 million. The bank has granted Original a “short-term” extension on repayment of the loan.
