Nedin Flirts With No-Hitter for Canyons
College of the Canyons pitcher Tim Nedin settled for a one-hitter after throwing eight innings of no-hit ball in the Cougars’ 4-1 nonconference baseball victory Tuesday at Long Beach City College.
Nedin (2-0) lost the no-hitter when Doug Fifer singled to lead off the ninth. Nedin struck out 8 and walked 4.
Canyons Coach Len Mohney said Nedin, a sophomore, has a tender elbow and was not supposed to pitch a complete game. But a potential no-hitter forced Mohney to think otherwise.
“He hasn’t really thrown much,” Mohney said. “We weren’t going to let him throw as much as he did today. But then he had a no-hitter going.”
