Evander Holyfield and Carlos DeLeon will fight for the undisputed cruiserweight championship April 9 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, promoter Dan Duva announced in New York.
The fight immediately became a weighty matter since it is to be held at a 195-pound limit. That is the division limit for the World Boxing Council, which recognizes DeLeon.
However, the International Boxing Federation and the World Boxing Assn., which recognize Holyfield, have a 190-pound limit for the class.
“We haven’t asked them (IBF and WBA) yet,” Duva said. “But if Evander loses, he’ll give Carlos DeLeon his belts.”
