2nd Biathlon Gold for E. German

CANMORE, Canada — Frank-Peter Roetsch of East Germany won his second gold medal of the Winter Olympics today, taking the 10-kilometer biathlon in record time.
Roetsch, who also won the 20-kilometer skiing and marksmanship event, completed the Canmore Nordic Center course in 25:08.1, smashing the Olympic record of 30:53.8 set by Erik Kvalfoss of Norway in 1984. The first 55 finishers broke the previous Olympic mark. Valeri Medvedtsev of the Soviet Union won the silver medal with Sergei Tchepikov of the Soviet Union taking the bronze.
