Ethiopian rebels released unharmed six foreign aid workers kidnaped last week in drought- and war-racked northern Tigre province, where secessionists are fighting the government, relief officials said. The officials said the six were released by the Popular Front for the Liberation of Tigre in Adigrat, 500 miles north of Addis Ababa, the capital. They said the workers--two Belgians with the relief organization Medicins Sans Frontieres (Doctors Without Borders), a Dutch and an Irish doctor and two Irish nurses--were not harmed. The purpose of the kidnapings was to emphasize that food aid is not reaching millions of people in isolated areas, a rebel spokesman in London said.
