A search is under way by the Tennessee Performing Arts Center to fill dates at Nashville’s Jackson Hall left empty by the now-defunct Nashville Symphony. The symphony’s board of directors recently voted to abolish the organization rather than go $700,000 into debt by the end of the 1987-88 season. That move left the concert hall with 28 dark days and $43,000 in canceled rental fees--which arts center officials estimate may cut this year’s profits by 10%. So far, some canceled dates this month have been filled by the non-classical country duo, the Judds.
