Tahoe Freeway

Having recently moved from the Lake Tahoe area to Los Angeles, I read the excellent Times editorial “No Freeway for Tahoe” (Jan. 31) with great interest. The article correctly states: “A freeway is not the answer.” Upgrading Highway 50 to a freeway would degrade or destroy the very qualities that make Tahoe such a wonderful place to visit or live.
Anyone clutching a steering wheel in Los Angeles knows the truth: More lanes don’t make for an easier trip.
