Israeli ultra-conservative politician Rabbi Meir Kahane said Monday that he planned to award film maker Woody Allen a piglet because of Allen’s recent article in the New York Times criticizing Israel’s treatment of Palestinians. Kahane, founder of the Jewish Defense League, called Allen “the winner of the pig of the month award,” adding that Allen put on “clearly the most self-hating act of any Jew this month.” Kahane verbally attacked Allen in the Jewish Press newspaper on Feb. 5: “Woody Allen is more than a Hollywood radical chic salon moralist. He is more than an arrogant ignoramus. He is a very troubled man with personal problems revolving about his Jewishness.”
