In an international indoor track meet at Nagoya, Japan, Patrik Sjoberg of Sweden, the world indoor record-holder, won his specialty with a jump of 7-4. His record is 7-10 3/4.
Rick Noji of the University of Washington finished second. He also cleared 7-4 1/2, but Sjoberg had fewer misses.
Robert Emmian of the Soviet Union had a leap of 25-5 1/2 to win the long jump, and the pole vault went to France’s Thierry Vigneron, who cleared 18-4 1/2.
