Meese Visits With Pope

VATICAN CITY — Atty. Gen. Edwin Meese III paid Pope John Paul II a courtesy call Friday, the Vatican said. The 15-minute audience came at the end of Meese’s visit to Italy for talks with Italian law enforcement officials on joint efforts to fight arms trafficking, terrorism, organized crime and drug smuggling.
