Local News in Brief : Man Arrested in Murder

An Azusa man was arrested on suspicion of murder after identification of skeletal remains found in San Dimas last month, said Sheriff’s Sgt. Merlyn Poppleton.
The victim was Freda Evelyn Benton, 64, of Covina, who was reported missing Jan. 8. The suspect is William Max Thomas, 57.
The Sheriff’s Department declined to divulge details of the investigation, except to say that identification of the victim was made through dental records.
