Florida State President Bernard F. Sliger said the NCAA has begun a preliminary inquiry into the school’s athletic department.
The NCAA will use a field investigator to determine if violations have occurred and if there is reason to begin an official inquiry, Sliger said.
The news of the NCAA inquiry comes one week after reports that athletic department officials were being remunerated for promotional work without Sliger’s knowledge. and that associate athletic director Bob Goin was paid $3,000 to negotiate those agreements.
