Loyola Marymount will put its 15-game winning streak on the line tonight at home in a West Coast Athletic Conference rematch with Santa Clara, a 94-93 loser to the Lions last week.
The Lions, with a nation-leading 108-points per game scoring average, also will play host to USF on Saturday. The Lions (18-3 overall, 8-0 in the WCAC) are two games ahead of Santa Clara (15-6, 6-2) and Pepperdine.
Santa Clara center Dan Weiss is coming off a career-best 33 points against Loyola. Santa Clara also successfully solved Loyola’s press for a half last week, scoring 17 of 20 field goals on layups or dunks. But the Broncos wilted in the last five minutes, when Loyola overcame a 15-point deficit.
Loyola’s Hank Gathers continues to lead the WCAC in scoring at 22.6 points per game.
