Pepperdine Plays Host to USF Tonight

Pepperdine’s basketball team, which edged USF, 94-91, at San Francisco last Saturday, will face the Dons at 7:30 tonight at Firestone Fieldhouse in Malibu. The Waves also will play host to Santa Clara, a 66-57 winner over Pepperdine, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
The Waves (14-7 overall, 6-2 in the West Coast Athletic Conference), are tied for second place in the conference with Santa Clara (15-6, 6-2). USF (11-10, 3-5) has lost five straight WCAC games.
Against the Broncos last week, Pepperdine sophomore Tom Lewis was held to a season-low 6 points. Lewis is averaging 22.2 points.
Pepperdine’s Levy Middlebrooks, the conference’s top rebounder with 10.4 a game, is also averaging 18.7 points. Middlebrooks has 869 career rebounds and needs 16 to surpass Ollie Matson Jr.’s school record of 884.
