Ove Nyquist Arup, 92, founder of the international firm of Ove Arup & Planners Consulting Engineers, one of the largest in the world. Sir Ove, who was knighted in 1971, developed a method of building with reinforced concrete in use throughout the world today. He and his firm designed and built the Sydney Opera House in Australia; the Highpoint housing units in England and the Centre Pompidou in France. One of his proudest achievements was the Kingsfate Footbridge over the River Wear at Durham, England. In London on Feb. 5.
