Whooping Cough Kills 8th Child in Argentina

LA PLATA, Argentina — Whooping cough has killed eight children since January in the Buenos Aires area, the latest a 7-month-old boy, health officials said Wednesday.
Provincial health ministry officials said that about 100 people suffering from whooping cough have been hospitalized in La Plata, southern Buenos Aires and Tres Arroyos. Most are malnourished children from low-income families, and they have not been vaccinated, the officials said.
