Prep Soccer : Mater Dei Girls Defeat Connelly, Win League Title

Amy Sissung scored two goals Monday as the Mater Dei High School girls’ soccer team clinched the Angelus League championship with a 5-0 victory over Connelly at Mater Dei.

Michelle Lodyga posted her 13 shutout of the season for Mater Dei (19-4-1 overall, 9-0 in league).

In the Garden Grove League:

Pacifica 6, Bolsa Grande 1--April Burton and Noelee Rost each scored two goals to lead Pacifica (9-7-1, 5-4).

La Quinta 5, Garden Grove 0--Cheryl Jones and Stephanie Stucker each scored two goals for host La Quinta (16-4-1, 7-1-1).

In the South Coast League:

Capistrano Valley 1, Irvine 0--Susan Staab scored for Capistrano Valley (14-3, 4-1-3) at Irvine.

In Olympic League boys’ soccer:

Orange Lutheran 2, Whittier Christian 2--Mike Fleichli and Scott Runyan scored for host Orange Lutheran (9-5-3, 5-3-3).
