On the Way to a Castle

We were delighted that Nancy Maust in “Travel Tips” (Jan. 10) recommended our place (Darken Downs Equestre-Inn) to your readers. She and her companion spent the night with us in late November after they had visited Hearst Castle and were on their way to San Francisco, via U.S. 101.
However, the rates ($35 single-$40 double) quoted by Maust are no longer in effect. They are now $50 double and $40 single. Also, we received some inquiries from readers who believed we were nearer to Hearst Castle than we actually are. In fact, we are nine miles northeast of Paso Robles, which is about 40 miles from the castle and nearly an hour’s drive away.
