Greg Haugen earned a one-sided 15-round decision over Vinny Pazienza to reclaim the International Boxing Federation lightweight championship at Atlantic City, N.J.
Haugen, who had lost the title to Pazienza on a 15-round unanimous decision last June 7 in Providence, R.I., established control in the first round and kept Pazienza off balance with a punishing left jab.
Judges Gary Merritt and Stuart Winston each scored it for Haugen, 147-138. Judge Lynne Carter favored Haugen, 145-140.
Pazienza, who had his nose broken in the first fight, had it broken again in the third or fourth round. He had a cut open over his left eye in the ninth.
Haugen, 28, is 21-1-1 with 10 knockouts. Pazienza, 25, of Cranston, R.I., lost for the first time after 23 victories, 18 by knockout.
