CS Long Beach Women Beat Fresno State, 79-64

FRESNO — Penny Toler scored 35 points and 14th-ranked Cal State Long Beach overpowered Fresno State with defense, 79-64, Thursday night in a Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. women’s basketball game.
The 49ers (11-5, 8-0) had 25 steals and forced the Bulldogs (10-8, 5-4) into 38 turnovers.
Toler made 16 of 20 shots and scored 19 of her points as Long Beach built a 33-26 halftime lead. Cheryl Dowell added 11 points and 8 rebounds, and Traci Waites had 10 points and 8 steals.
Mary Gainey scored 18 points for Fresno. Yvette Roberts added 17, and Laurie Heinrichs had 16 points and 8 rebounds.
