Authorities have arrested two teen-agers believed to be responsible for shooting at a Compton Unified School District bus carrying 50 students.
The shooting, which occurred Monday at Castlegate and Rosecrans avenues, slightly injured a 15-year-old passenger who was apparently struck by flying glass.
On Wednesday, a 13-year-old who allegedly fired a single shot from a rifle and a 16-year-old companion were arrested and held on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. The two are members of Compton-area gangs, according to Los Angeles County sheriff’s investigators. Two other youths are still being sought.
Witnesses told reporters there had been yelling between some bus passengers and four youths on the sidewalk just before the shooting.
