Duarte : Lighting Fees Rescinded
At the request of the Duarte Youth Athletic Club, the City Council has voted to stop charging fees for the baseball group’s use of lights at Sports Park.
The club has paid the city about $700 a year in lighting fees.
The council action came after a survey of 17 San Gabriel Valley cities showed that 11 do not charge youth sports organizations for the use of lights at ball parks.
The nonprofit Duarte Youth Athletic Club has 300 members who pay $35 for a uniform and insurance. The club will be charged the lighting fee if games are canceled and the Parks and Recreation Department is not notified.
