Attention, would-be schlemiels: Woody Allen is watching you. The writer-director-actor-comedian won another court battle to keep his public image unsoiled Tuesday in New York, where Manhattan Federal Court Judge Constance Baker Motley ruled against a Long Island-based clothing chain that used a photo of an Allen look-alike and Allen-flavored copy in a 1986 newspaper ad. Motley said the Men’s World clothing ad “evoked the schlemiel persona Allen cultivated up through his appearance in ‘Annie Hall,’ ” adding the defendants violated Allen’s rights under federal trademark laws.
