SEOUL, South Korea — An old bomb weighing one ton was found in a load of scrap iron purchased in Los Angeles, according to a report Tuesday.
The Korea Herald said the bomb was found Saturday by workers unloading scrap iron to be melted down at the Pohang Steel and Iron Co. at Kwangyang on the south coast. It appeared to be an old aerial bomb.
Police said the bomb did not have a detonator but that it could have exploded if it had been melted down, the report added.
