Detectives are investigating the death of a man who had been stabbed and left lying in a Sun Valley street before a motorist accidentally ran over him, Los Angeles police said Tuesday.
Jose Rizo, 26, of Pacoima, died of injuries suffered when the car ran over him about 10 p.m. Sunday in the southbound lane of Glenoaks Boulevard near Lanark Street. The unidentified motorist stopped and called police.
An autopsy conducted Tuesday determined that Rizo had been stabbed in his upper body before being struck by the car. Detectives said they have no suspects in the stabbing and have not yet determined whether Rizo’s assailant could be arrested for murder since the fatal injuries were caused by the car.
“Right now we are handling it as a possible homicide,” said Detective Al Ferrand.
