Former North Carolina football star Derrick Fenner has pleaded guilty to one count of cocaine possession in a plea agreement with the Prince George’s County state’s attorney. Under the arrangement, the state’s attorney agreed to “nol pros” a weapons charge, which means it will not be prosecuted.
Sentencing was set for March 23.
Fenner was accused of illegally transporting a handgun and possessing cocaine after he was pulled over by police while driving a friend’s truck last May.
Fenner could not produce a registration certificate for the truck and the police searched the vehicle. They found a .38 revolver and ammunition under the front seat and a plastic bag containing 25 vials with cocaine residue in Fenner’s jacket.
The cocaine charge carries a maximum penalty of four years in prison and a $25,000 fine.
