The World : 19 Killed in S. Africa Feud

Black political feuding around Pietermaritzburg claimed 19 more lives over the weekend,South African police reported. Among the victims were five young men found by police at Sweetwaters, about 6 miles west of Pietermaritzburg, and a 35-year-old woman who had been stabbed more than 100 times at Taylor’s Halt, about 12 miles west of Pietermaritzburg. The clashes continued, according to residents, but the police reportedly used tear gas to disperse the mobs. In the last 13 months in Natal province, more than 380 people have died in fighting between the mainly Zulu Inkatha movement and the radical United Democratic Front. Both are anti-apartheid groups.
