MOVIE REVIEW : ‘Bowl-a-Rama’ Delivers a Gutter Ball
- Share via
In “Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-a-Rama” (citywide), all the film’s creativity has been used up by the title. It may conjure up clever images but they dance out of sight with the film’s first frame--three pimply teen-age boys in front of a television set.
The yarn has these three lads ogling the antics of a college sorority initiation night. They’re discovered, of course, and promptly forced to abet two comely students in the theft of a trophy from a neighborhood bowling alley. Everything goes haywire when a devilish, jive-talking imp is uncorked from the trophy bottom. He offers each participant a wish, then turns on them with the full force of his malevolent wrath.
The film makers toss in a female punk robber, a deaf janitor and the kitchen sink, in case we missed the point that it’s supposed to be campy. But “Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-a-Rama” (MPAA-rated: R, for violence, language and nudity) is too obvious and heavy-handed even for this amount of attention. It deserves a gutter-ball score.
